Every pattern starts somewhere small, usually with a doodle here, a shape there, or a line drawn just to see where it might go. Together, those little details have the potential to become something more.
I refine those sketches into graphics and start imagining what they could become. I experiment with color, build the pattern, and use mockups to see how the design changes when it moves from a flat illustration into something real.
The process is part illustration, part problem-solving, and part play. The goal is to create something that feels unexpected and full of personality, while still working as a pattern that can move across different products and spaces.
Surface design is another way of telling a story. A doodle becomes an illustration, an illustration becomes a pattern, and a pattern becomes something that can bring a little extra personality to an everyday space or object.
